On Friday, Nov. 14, CASA Mental Health recognized National Philanthropy Day — a global celebration of giving and philanthropy — at an awards reception and celebration. This annual event is hosted by the Association of Fundraising Professionals Edmonton and Area Chapter, and provides a forum for sharing stories about individuals, companies, groups and volunteers who are making a difference through their philanthropic efforts.
This year, CASA Mental Health nominated McNally High School, Rick and Stephanie Taylor, RBC Foundation and Emily Cave for awards. Learn more about their contributions to child, youth and mental health care below!

McNally High School
Award Sector: Youth
McNally High School’s Bikeathon was a 14-hour, student-led fundraising event supporting CASA Mental Health. On April 11, 2025, students cycled from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., raising awareness and funds for free child and youth mental health services across Alberta. The event engaged the entire school community, highlighting student leadership, teamwork and compassion. McNally’s initiative demonstrated how student-driven philanthropy can make a difference.
"This wasn't just a day of cycling; it was a celebration of community, compassion and coming together to make a difference. We pedalled with purpose and support for CASA Mental Health in their mission to create brighter futures for those in need." ~ McNally High School

Rick and Stephanie Taylor
Award Sector: Community Enrichment
Rick and Stephanie Taylor have turned loss into a legacy through Emily’s Memorial Horse Show, a fundraiser held in memory of their daughter, Emily. Hosted annually for 10 years, the event increased awareness, raised funds and brought the equestrian community together to celebrate Emily’s life and support CASA Mental Health. Rick and Stephanie’s decade-long effort, which also included events like Emily’s Memorial Motorcycle Ride, embodies the spirit of National Philanthropy Day.
"We decided that we needed to pick ourselves up off our knees and honour her memory by helping other adolescents who struggle with mental unwellness." ~ The Taylors

RBC Foundation
Award Sector: Community Enrichment
The RBC Foundation has walked beside CASA Mental Health for over a decade. Through its generous support, the RBC Foundation has helped CASA’s programs thrive. It has contributed to programs supporting Indigenous youth through learning and connection, as well as the FamilySmart: Family Peer Support Program, where parents and caregivers find guidance and a listening ear from someone who understands because they’ve been there. With the generosity of the RBC Foundation, more futures are filled with possibility, and fewer families feel alone.
"Today’s societal challenges have the potential to undermine the ability of our clients, employees, shareholders and communities where we operate to thrive and prosper. We want to do our part to help address these challenges and aim to engage others to contribute to addressing them." ~ RBC Foundation

Emily Cave
Award Sector: Community Enrichment
Emily Cave exemplifies the heart of philanthropy through her commitment to youth mental health. In memory of her late husband, Colby Cave, Emily has contributed to CASA Mental Health, enriching the lives of youth with therapeutic programs, school supplies and holiday gifts. Her support of CASA House has enabled recreation, art and music therapies that bring joy and healing to patients. Beyond donations, Emily inspires compassion and community by sharing Colby’s legacy of kindness and resilience. Her actions reflect empathy and a desire to uplift others.
“Be somebody that makes everybody feel like a somebody.” ~ Colby and Emily’s motto
