Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Program
This program provides information and education to families with children with a possible or confirmed diagnosis of prenatal alcohol or drug exposure, or fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD).
What happens in this program?
Families can receive support via the following streams:
- Consultative services: CASA’s FASD educator can provide information and resources, and can assist in navigating FASD services available in the community.
- FASD group: This educational group builds on caregivers’ strengths to better meet their child’s needs. Caregivers learn strategies and practice everyday parent-child interactions. Children will have the opportunity to work on social skills through structured activities. The group takes place once per week for eight weeks.
- One-on-one coaching: Families who complete the above group may also choose to receive individual coaching for specific circumstances or challenges related to parenting and FASD.
Who is this program for?
The program is for children ages three to 12 and their families. These children have a suspected or confirmed diagnosis of prenatal alcohol or drug exposure, or fetal alcohol spectrum disorder.
