The Children’s Day Program aims to improve the social and learning skills of children with serious mental health challenges.
What happens in this program?
The program provides group, family and individual therapy while also providing education in a small classroom setting. Kids are encouraged to build on their strengths and develop new skills. Areas of focus include social skills, academic functioning and emotional and sensory awareness.
Kids attend the program daily during the school year.
Who is this program for?
The program is for kids in grades three to six who have completed a mental health assessment within the last six months. The child must have a formal mental health diagnosis and currently be in therapy.
How do I access this program?
Referrals must be made by a psychiatrist and/or a therapist (with psychiatrist’s support), or the child’s school principal. These professionals can refer through Recovery Alberta at 780-342-4415.
