Dr. Andrew Bremness, a psychiatrist at CASA Mental Health for more than 30 years, received the King Charles III Coronation Medal on Dec. 5, 2024, presented by The Honourable Salma Lakhani, Lieutenant Governor of Alberta.
The medal commemorates the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III, which occurred on May 6, 2023.
Recipients of the medal must have made a significant contribution to Canada, or a particular province, territory, region or community of Canada; or have made an outstanding achievement abroad that brings credit to Canada.
Dr. Bremness works with patients in CASA’s Triage and Transition, Core and Trauma programs. He is an appointed clinical professor in the Department of Psychiatry, Division of Child Psychiatry at University of Alberta and was previously a consulting Psychiatrist with the Child Health Unit at Misericordia Hospital.
He is a respected program leader, educator, speaker and mentor. He has facilitated numerous keynote presentations for both clinicians and the general public, and has authored a book, “Healing the Traumatized Child.”
Dr. Bremness is an expert in his field who has dedicated more than 40 years of practice to supporting the healing of children, youth and families with kindness, authenticity and compassionate care.
