CASA’s Holiday Shop
From December 16-18, the Resource Centre at CASA Centre transformed into a Holiday Shop. CASA children and adolescents were invited to come with their siblings and shop for gifts for their caregivers. Tables of gifts were set up in the Resource Centre where volunteers helped the children pick out gifts for their caregivers. The children were then brought to the gift wrapping room where they were able to help wrap the gifts they chose.
Over 150 children visited the holiday shop throughout the three days. The children also participated in a craft station where they decorated a card, decorated sugar cookies, and made ornaments to hang on a tree!
We had volunteers baking cookies throughout the day, then serving fresh cookies and hot chocolate for the families while they waited.
Throughout the three days that the holiday shop was open, our amazing team of volunteers dedicated 180 hours to ensure that this event was a success!
We would like to give a special shout out to Marlene Growing who put in over 150 hours to ensure that CASA’s Holiday Shop would be a success! From shopping, wrapping, to creating beautiful gift baskets, Marlene did it all! Her time and efforts that went into guaranteeing that the holiday shop would be successful is greatly appreciated by all of CASA’s staff, families, and children that attended the Holiday Shop.
